Bill
A friend of mine in the UK named Nigel Wright did a lot of research into the dirigible reports of early 20th Century England, and found some intriguing reports and official interest. Intriguing too that they gave way to the Foo Fighters, then the Ghost Rockets, then the Saucers, then the Triangles. Methinks another motif will be in place in a few more years...

Sounds a lot like the "mystery airships"
(dirigible-like) seen over the U.S. in the late 1890s and over the UK in the early years of the 20th century (the same ones that, with HMG believing them to be possible German "infernal machines", in part led to the creation of MI6 and MI5 in response). This dirigible stuff seems very "throwback", though, as we've seemingly moved on elsewhere to discs, triangles and such.
Accounts from 1915 and such, though, do tend to square up with the kinds of things getting the Brits riled up in 1908/1909 and such. Interesting.
