UFOs and Marilyn Monroe
In my latest book Celebrity Secrets, I included a chapter on the FBI’s surveillance files of dead Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe. In that chapter I devoted a brief section to a discussion of a controversial document that - if genuine, of course - suggests that Monroe had been told aspects of the Roswell story by the Kennedy brothers, John and Robert - as well as other official secrets, too.
More disturbingly, the alleged CIA document refers to a threat by Monroe to spill the beans on what she knew; something that never happened, of course, as a result of her still-controversial death.
And while I only included a brief reference on this affair in Celebrity Secrets, researcher Don Burleson wrote a whole book about it; and he has just been interviewed about his research into the Monroe story and other things of a ufological nature.
The document falls into the gray area that many such leaked UFO documents inhabit. Namely that it’s an intriguing piece of data, but actually proving anything is near impossible. Of course, that could also be said about the vast majority of all-things ufological.

OK Nick — there’s mention of Kennedy’s “infamous libido” and then the CIA memo states the president told Marilyn about a visit to a base for “inspecting things from outer space.” Well no wonder the mainstream media keeps fixating on space sex. I hope this new book gets thrown into what could be a whole genre, I’m sure.

To quote ‘Bottom’…
“Jeepers, Eddie!!”
I hadn’t realized that the link was quite so solid. Here’s a URL to the CIA Memo mentioned.

Speaking of Roswell — Nick did you see these nuclear-powered UFO diagrams from David Sereda? 1960? http://www.coasttocoastam.com/gen/page1986.html?theme=light

Interesting. Actually, in my Strange Secrets book I had a whole chapter on early 1960s US Air Force research to develop nuclear powered Saucers.
All of these documents are official FOIA papers and reveal an interesting story of studies undertaken.
And of course if feasibility studies were done back then, where are they at now?
Maybe nowhere, maybe somewhere, or maybe everywhere…

What is interesting about this document is that if it’s a hoax, it actually plays down the UFO and alien angle - which if a hoax is quite subtle.
For example, if you take a good look at it, it just refers to “dead bodies” and “things from outer space.”
Now, of course the first thought might be that this is about aliens. But I still find it intriguing that this isn’t explicitly spelled out anywhere.
The Kilgallen angle is intriguing too because she *was* told of a crashed UFO story in the 50s by a UK Government official and did know Monroe.
The reference to Howard Rothberg is intriguing too as this takes a bit of digging but he was someone who knew various photographers who filmed Mariyln and he knew Kilgallen; so in some ways this makes it all the more interesting.
While the CIA officially states that it has no files on Monroe, it is ironic that some of the FBI’s declassified FOIA files on Monroe actually have the Director of the CIA on the distribution list!
So, the CIA must have (or had) these documents on file - even if they are lost or “missing” today.

I had seen this before - it’s actually not a new story re this guy and the book - however, it never appeared.
That said, there are a lot of people with intriguing links to Ufology who were also tied in with the JFK assassination.
I would recommend a reading of Kenn Thomas’ “Maury Island UFO” book, which delves into this.
