UFOs and Raelians
Can the UFO subject get any more bizarre? Yes, probably. But for now, this will suffice:
“You’ve heard the old cliche that Las Vegas has more churches per capita than any other city in America? Maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t, but we’re about to get another one. The Raelians are unlike any other religion in the world since they do not believe in God at all. But it’s their other beliefs that are more likely to raise hackles among other faiths. It’s just a coincidence that Raelians rhymes with aliens, but it’s telling. Although they’ve been called a cult, they are far removed from any religious cult you’ve ever heard of. Offer up your comments on the Raelians and their relocation to Las Vegas.”
For the rest of the story…

Oh c’mon Nick, admit you are just jealous that you don’t have your own ufo sex cult. It’s like Scientology but with more fun and less retardation.

Nick, I’ve always found the Raelian idea of transplanting your consciousness into a clone of yourself somewhat repulsive.
To me, that’s a bit like some of these so-called ‘left-handed path’ cults with their notions of sacrificing your kids and their happiness to advantage yourself - but then that’s Tony Blair’s New Labour for you!

not_anonymous, if ‘Napoleon Dunno Mate’ doesn’t b*ll*cks up the film version of Nick’s ‘Three Men…” book, Nick’s go’n'o end up with his own UFO sex cult whether he wants one or not!

Alan:
The weirdest thing to me is why people would even want to join any sort of UFO group/cult/organization in the first place.
Personally, I don’t get it. For me (and for most people I know) UFOs are an interest and a passion.
But to take it to some other level is something I don’t understand and probably never will.
If UFOs and aliens are visiting and we can one day prove that, then that will be an amazing thing.
If they’re not: well it’s no big deal. Life goes on.
To me, to wrap your life around the subject to where it becomes a dominating factor and a way of life is something I just cannot comprehend.
To give you an example, I write books, articles etc, and I do so from 9 to 5 monday to friday, and then I stop, so that me and my wife can have a normal life after work and on weekends, totally free of anything even remotely connected with UFOs or Forteana.
The only time I have any involvment in ufology outside of daytime, weekday writing is if I’m doing a radio show at night, or a speaking gig etc.
UFOs are an interest to me, but not something overwhelming where I’m obsesssing about the damn things 24 hours a day.
In fact, I can’t think of anything worse.
At 5 o clock, I’ll turn the TV on and watch the footy that I taped the night before and UFOs can kiss themselves goodbye until the next day.
And I never have - and never will - understand this thing where people get mixed up with organized groups and then follow the teachings of that group to where it all becomes some way of life thing.
UFOs are interesting. But certainly not something worth running off to an organized group or something.

I don’t know how anyone is surprised at people following even the most absurd religions. They are all absurd and manmade, yet millions are stuck in the mire. As far as UFOs and aliens go, the first records in our history, the Sumerian scrolls, tell the story of the ‘gods’ coming from space to live on earth, mine for gold and tamper with mankind to create a ‘worker’ race. Of course this epic was later turned into a convoluted version for the so-called Hebrew worship of Yahweh, the monster god of the OT. He is still considered to be god the father by millions! If anyone is familiar at all with the Sumerian story, you can’t miss the reworking in the christian bible.
Religion is and always has had one goal and that is to keep people deaf and blind to reality. It enslaves people to the point of making idiots of them. True science has been hampered from the beginning of time due to ignorant and superstitious people who believe every lie the clergy and governments tell them.
As far as the UFO issue, who knows? The internet is filled to the overflowing brim with information pro and con. All I know is this simple fact, if all of it is a lie, someone is playing a sick cruel joke for some reason that would most likely scare the hell out of anyone with good sense. If any of it is real, that should still scare the hell out of us all. At any rate, we are being had one way or another. The religious nuts are all too happy for the ‘unknown’ to make an appearance because they have been taught chaos must first come before they will be taken ‘up’. They don’t give one tinkers damn about this planet or the future of mankind. They will be flying off in the ‘rapture’ when all hell breaks out. Some of us who want the truth know all is not well and lies are told for a reason. They are usually told because of the self-serving purposes of the few.
What angers me most is the way some people have reported on such things as the abductions and mutilations, even of children. If that is so and these people know it is 100% true, how can they lay down at night and sleep? Why aren’t they doing all they can and as loud as they can to do something, anything?! Where is the proof? Some of this stuff has been floating around for years on the net while, supposedly all these thousands of abductees are dying or suffering. The organization who could create such lies, if that is what they are, is a sick beyond words group of evil bastards. I despise religion as it is also a lie and I certainly do not trust the government. It seems it is slim pickings these days for honest men. How sad.
