The Chupacabras Returns

A new story has surfaced from Chile that some are saying marks the re-surfacing of the deadly Chupacabras in the country. According to the nation’s El Mercurio newspaper, last tuesday evening there was an attack on a hen-enclosure in the San Antonio area that left the birds dead and drained of blood. Police reportedly found “strange” three-toed footprints on the patio of the property.

On the same night, in Curico, Chile, Samuel Saavedra was startled by a noise that he said was ”as if someone had jumped off the large wall surrounding the house.” Not only that: when he went to check what all the commotion was about, Saavedra was confronted by a 1.2 meter-tall, furry creature with a round bald head that gave off what the witness described as a “defiant stare.”

Interestingly, this specific kind of defiance has been reported elsewhere - such as in some of the reports of werewolf-like entities seen in Wisconsin that Linda Godfrey investigated for her book, Hunting the American Werewolf, (for which I wrote the Foreword).

Some will say this is mere hysteria resulting from attacks by conventional animals. Doubtless some Chupacabras attacks are. But there is still that core body of evidence that is diabolically strange.

I recommend that we keep a close eye on the situation in Chile…
