Mexican UFO Recorded On Phone Cam

Just in from Scott Corrales’ excellent Journal of Hispanic Ufology, a report of a spherical, metallic object at 10,000 feet over Mexico.

I have just returned from a motor-paragliding convention out at the Salton Sea here in southern California. During the dinner/ party on Saturday night, I talked with a man who designs and flies ultralight airplanes. He told me of a similar sighting he had a few years back of a five-foot, metallic sphere that outran his plane some 5000 feet above the San Onofre nuclear power station. The airspace is just north of Camp Pendleton Marine Base in Southern California. Are Foo-fighters making an encore appearance?

Airliner Crew Records UFO On Cellphone

A report from Ana Luisa Cid

On January 28, 2007, flight mechanic Enrique Morales Piedras recorded on his cellphone– a spherical object crossing the skies over the region of the Popocatpetl and Iztacchuatl volcanoes. According to a report given to researcher Alfonso Salazar, he was aboard a Boeing 737-200, registration XA-MAC, flying between Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta. The witness says the flight took off at 9:20 a.m. toward Texcoco on runway 5 right. The airliner began to rise and at an elevation of 10,000 feet followed the Toluca VOR. At this time Mr. Morales Piedras began to make a recording with his cellphone, since the view was inspiring, the volcanoes were covered in snow and the weather was completely clear and sunny.

As he recorded the scenery, the airliner’s captain said: “Look, what’s that over there?” pointing straight ahead. It was at that moment that he recorded in the eleven o’clock position a spherical, seemingly metallic object at an estimated distance of 200 meters. The time was 9:23 a.m.

“What is most relevant of this evidence upon reviewing the video, aside from seeing the sphere, the audio picks up the TICAS alarm, which repeats: “Traffic, traffic…” meaning that the on-board collision avoidance radar picked up the flying object, which then moved to the left and sped away quickly,” concluded researcher Alfonso Salazar, adding that as soon as he has the witness’ authorization, he will release the recording.

Oh my god, I can’t wait to see this!

Greg, it looks like Scott has posted a retraction on this:

Mexican UFO Turns Out To Be A Balloon?

Also… I’m VERY glad to see that your webmaster FINALLY updated the site template so that the right hand side of your post pages header is now visible. Hooray!!

TCAS isn’t a “radar” system as most of us think of it; it works by transponders in aircraft holding conversations with one another. If they were getting a traffic alert, they were getting it from another TCAS transponder somewhere in the area. I hope it wasn’t on the “UFO.”

Using a cell phone it may not be too clear. Hopefully it is a clear one. A friend of mine took a intresting photo with more then one of some huge metallic spheres near a farm on Vancouver island. I think it was 3 or 4 of them to which they appeared to be hiding in the clouds. The one in the front had a metallic look to it while the ones behind it were circular looking clouds. Eventhough, because of distance they appeared slightly smaller then the one in front. Will try to get a hold of him and send a copy of photo; if that hasn’t disappeared like his negatives.

The increasing proliferation of minicams and digital cellphone cameras is starting to kick the teeth out of the “no such thing” crowd and I suspect this trend is only going to continue as the technology improves and people start being being “armed” with recording devices “24/7″. Nickell and Schermer will be boohooing profusely when digital imagery increasingly begins to shoot down their owls in flaming tailspins. LOL!!!!

    Smylex,

Keep checking Scott Corrales’ site. If I see a link, I’ll post it here.

  7. Greg Bishop Says:

    Sasdave,

Send the pics along and we’ll post ‘em here.

  8. Greg Bishop Says:

    Bill,

I’m afraid that no amount of UFO pictures is going to convince those who refuse to look at the data without a fundamentalist outlook. What I mean is convince them that there is a phenomenon that doesn’t fit in with the current reigning Aristotlean viewpoint.

You’d think that there was enough photographic evidence already!

  9. Greg Bishop Says:

    Miles,

It’s not a retraction so much as a cautionary comment that it might have been the balloon. Would a latex or mylar balloon survive at 10,000 feet or would it have exploded by then? Was the plane actually at 10K feet? Lotsa questions.

  10. Greg Bishop Says:

    Jimmy,

Perhaps the TCAS system was warning other aircraft that something that didn’t have a transponder was in the area. I don’t know if a balloon would do this.
