Hard Drive Dead - Long Live Bob Wilson!

Strangely enough, right after I finished writing the Robert Anton Wilson eulogy, my hard drive went to join Bob in the hereafter. I lost about 3 years of photos that I never backed up, but my music is safe on the ipod. Things will be a bit slow from this end until I get a replacement sometime mid-week. “Alien Penmanship Pt.2″ is on hold until I can get the relevant documents off an external drive. For now, I’m using my girlfriend’s laptop. Thanks Sigrid!
Thank you for your patience.
Thanks to Adam Gorightly for providing the previously lost picture above.

My hard drive died a few weeks ago. However, I sent it in to a service that restores hard drive info, and was able to retreive all the files that were lost. However, the service ain’t cheap!
Since then I received as an xmas gift a service called Carbonite that automatically backs up your hard drive. A must for a lazy ass like myself!

Oh, btw, I came across the photo of you and RAW from 2001if you lost it with your hard drive crash.

Two things Greg. If it’s not being recognized, you might try the old ‘Hard Drive in the Freezer‘ trick…
Or, if it’s just software problem, simply make a “slave” in any other computer and you should be able to recover what you need.
Good luck…

Adam,
Yes, I’d like a copy of the picture. I found most of my pics miraculously backed up sometime in the last few months on an external drive. I say “miraculous” because I don’t remember doing it!

Thanks Jonah. I didn’t know about the freezer trick, but I probably wouldn’t have done it, since the computer is still under an extended warranty. I’ve never had a problem with Apple products in 15 years until now, which is a pretty good record. I started with them because they used to be the best for graphics work when I was doing the Excluded Middle zine back in the early ’90s.
